Based on your birth date, this method, calculates one or two cards from the Major Arcana to represent your Personality Card (how you express yourself in the world) and your Soul Card (your inner essence and spiritual purpose). How to Calculate Your Tarot Birth Cards

The system was popularized by Mary K. Greer and uses your full birth date (day, month, year). The goal is to reduce numbers until they correspond to Major Arcana cards (I to XXII = 1–22).

Step 1: Add the full birth date

Example: 14 June 1977 → 14 + 6 + 1977 = 1997

Step 2: Reduce to get the Personality Card

  • Add the digits of the total until you get a number between 10 and 22 (Major Arcana range).
  • 1997 → 1 + 9 + 9 + 7 = 26 → 2 + 6 = 8
  • Personality Card = VIII Strength

Step 3: Find the Soul Card

  • If the Personality Card is a two-digit number (10–22), reduce it again to a single digit (1–9).
  • That smaller number is the Soul Card, representing your inner essence.
  • Example: Personality Card = 11 (Justice) → Soul Card = 1 (Magician).
  • If your Personality Card is already 1–9, then your Personality and Soul Cards are the same.

Step 4: Check for a Hidden Teacher Card (Optional)

  • If your Personality Card is 19, 20, 21, or 22, you also have a Hidden Teacher Card.
  • This card reveals deeper lessons you carry in life.
  • Example: 19 (Sun) → Soul = 1 (Magician), Hidden Teacher = 10 (Wheel of Fortune).
